When designing a website, you can't just use any colors that come to mind, if you don't want your site to look like it's been designed by a colorblind chimp. Also, if you see a color scheme somewhere and you'd like to use it, you may want to know the exact values of those colors. This is exactly what Colorado was created for. It can help you pick the right colors for your website and it can provide you with the HTML values of each color.

The application is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and it is offered completely free of charge. Its components are distributed in a ZIP archive, so you only need to extract them and run the main executable. There are no special requirements you have to meet and you don't have to sacrifice a significant amount of memory or processing power.

Colorado's design is quite simple and there isn't much you have to do. Its user interface is divided in two parts, on which you can select different color pallets and preview them on a web page mock-up. The left half of the window is where you can find a wide range of color selections, which go well together, at least according to the people who have selected them.

When you select one of the available pallets, the colors will be applied immediately on the web page mock-up, on the left half of the interface. You will be able to see how certain parts of a page will look next to each other on a website. What's more, the pallet's colors are displayed beneath the mock-up and you can select them individually, to acquire their corresponding HTML codes. It's as simple as that. Just run the application, find a color pallet you like, see how it would look on a page and get the code for each color.

Colorado can save you valuable time when it comes to choosing a website's color scheme.

Pros

You can preview numerous color pallets on a web page mock-up. The software can provide you with the HTML code for each color. Colorado doesn't need to be installed and it doesn't use too many resources.

Cons

The web page mock-up is too simplistic.
